National Young Leader's Day in Rotorua
Speech Night
Toby and Ella were the Room 2 finalists. Toby's speech was on Methamphetamine and Ella's was on Homelessness. They both did extremely well but Toby managed to win the Year 7 spot in the next round, the Tall Poppies Speech Competition. Good luck Toby!
YOUNG INNOVATOR AWARDS
A team of four boys from Room 2 entered into the Young Innovators Awards, a competition run by the House of Science and Bluelab. The aim was to invent a Rube Goldberg type machine that turned on a light. Harrison Green, Finn Keen, Rhett Hollis and Alex Misescu worked hard on their design both after school and in the weekends under the guidance of some of the parents with Nicki Green as the lead convener. After a lot of trials and tweaks, their machine was ready to be filmed and entered into the competition. Twenty one schools entered from around the region and the Room two boys came an amazing 3rd place and won $100! Congratulations boys.

OUR BOP OF PLENTY CROSS COUNTRY TEAM Year 4-8
The awesome runners from Room 2 who qualified for the BOP event were Mikayla, Ella, Emily, Toby, Alex and Finn.
Five competitors travelled to Opotiki to compete in the gruelling race, with fantastic results. Mikayla 1st, Ella 4th, Toby 12th , Alex 21st and Finn 27th.

Literature Quiz Team
On Wednesday 11 May twenty nine excited teams arrived at the Tauranga Intermediate School gymnasium. They were there to be quizzed by the world famous Quiz Master, Mr Wayne Mills. Every imaginable literary question was thrown at the “book worms!” One thousand dollars was at stake for the winning team of four! So competition was fierce.
Our Year 8 team: Alistair Sedgwick, Will Pakes, Maggie Ravenswood and Maddie Cutfield. The reserve was Ollie Lawry. Their final total was 57.5/100
Our Year 7 team: Finn Keen, Harrison Green, Ella Ryan and Toby McGuffie. Sydney Williams was the reserve. Their final total was 53/100
Many thanks to the parent coaches Belinda McGuffie and Fiona Syme.
Overall, it was a fun and entertaining night and we all learnt a lot!
Tall Poppies Swimming 2016
Room 2 as well as Room 1 went to Tall Poppies swimming in Greerton . Everyone did wonderful swimming and had an awesome time! We won the boy, girl and grand relay races. However, we had 6 year 7 finalists going to the BOP. Finn, Ella, Belle, Acacia, Sydney, Emily and Mikayla!

THE FAIRY TALE FIASCO
SCIENCE!
On Monday 13th October a special science kit arrived from House Of Science called 'Sweet and Sour', this kit teaches us all about the ph scale and where everything sits. We all got buddies and the kits were divided accordingly, below are some pictures of us exploring the kits!
FOODBANK APPEAL
On Friday the 8th of August Brooke, Frances, Keely, Samantha and Mr Broadhurst travelled to the The Community Foodbank and delivered a whole trailer load of donated food that everyone brought to school as part of our Foodbank week. Well Done everyone! (i'm sure we made a big difference)
JAPANESE STUDENTS
For two weeks this term Logan, Vanessa and Sen hosted a Japanese student each. In the morning the students had english lessons and in the afternoon they completed class activities or traveled around the BOP
BEN'S CAR RAFFLE
Congratulations to Ben for organising an awesome car raffle for Westpac Rescue Helicopter. Three lucky people got to have a ride in a brand new Chevrolet Camaro 2SS all the way to the Mount. Ben raised an awesome amount of $86. Thanks to Bryce and Ben for an fantastic raffle. Well Done!

Well done to all of our athletes who competed in the WBOP and BOP cross country, A special congratulations to Cameron and Rosie who both got medals. Rosie came 3rd in the WBOP and Cameron came 3rd in the BOP.

Gymsports Festival 2014

National Young Leaders Day
The Year seven and eight students represented our school at the National Young Leaders Day in Rotorua. We heard from many speakers including Tamati Coffey and Alison Shanks, overall it was a great day!

On the 4th July Room 2 competed against Room 1 in a tug of war challenge and won as an overall result. Well organised by Keely and Samantha. GO ROOM 2!
Technology Challenge
On Friday 30th of May five students from our class represented our school in Tauranga Intermediate's 3 round Technology Challenge. Their best round was round 3. Well Done guys!
Lit Quiz
On Thursday 29th of May four students from our class represented our school in the BOP Lit Quiz at Tauranga Intermediate. Some of the categories were ages, animals, horror, books to movies and dogs. Well Done Guys!
AMAZING RACE 2O14:
On Thursday 15th of May a team of six went to Mt Maunganui to compete in a series of challenges including memory,water,physical and mental challenges. Well done to our team of six who were placed 3rd.
Fantastic Gate Pa Trip:
On Thursday 8th of May Room 2 went to the Greerton Hall to see the Battle Of Gate Pa Exhibition. We saw art and information which we all learnt lots from! Then we moved on to the Gate Pa Domain where we saw these Pous and carvings.
